Our Technology
The Olfaxis System is the first hand-held, automated decision support system to assist in t and treatment decisions for mTBI patients. Instead of trying to predict changes in brain function by using using indirect measures, such as balance or immediate memory recall tests, the Olfaxis System activates the brain using natural olfactory stimulation and uses gold-standard EEG to directly measure electrical activity throughout the brain. Cutting-edge AI is used to identify mTBI biomarkers in the EEG signal, currently yielding over 90% sensitivity - sensitivity and specificity will significantly increase with AI training.
Current military field assessments to detect mTBI depend on use of the MACE 2, a paper-multimodal screening checklist. The MACE 2, like other neurocognitive tests, are subjective and are insufficient to detect, or rule out, mTBI, and are not intended to be used alone. At present, the more accurate detection of mTBI depends on complex instrumentation to test sensory and motor function.
